Contemplation Week 17

Hello! Welcome to week 17 of Contemplation, where Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. * my post from Week 16, here * Today’s prompt: What does your dream home look like? This question couldn’t have been timed more perfectly, as I’m currently house  hunting so have lots of ideas of what I want my dream house to look like.  Realistically I probably won’t be getting my dream house this time around (financially I’m just not there yet) this won’t stop me from making my next place look as close as possible to my “dream”.  So what does that look like? A mix between an old country home with a Scandinavian twist. I know the two couldn’t be more different but I just can’t decide.  Having always LOVED day beds, floral blankets, vintage cookery and the idea of having a swing set in my front porch making me go “awww” every.damn.time. This theme remains etched in …

Contemplation, Week 12

Hello! Welcome to week 12 of Contemplation, where Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K  A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. * my post from Week 11, here * Today’s prompt: Right now, I feel .. Anxious, because I’m still trying to essentially get my s*** together in order to go back home. Also because I just had a job interview for a specific role, one that I haven’t worked in ..in two years. So all day I’ve been pacing up and down stress eating my way through the contents of our fridge. Although the interview is now over, I am still anxious but now about the outcome. Hopeful that soon things will calm down and work themselves out. That as exhausting as this rollercoaster of a year has been so far, something great is on its way. After writing it out, I feel relieved. How are you feeling today?

Contemplation, Week 10

Hello! Welcome to week 10 of Contemplation, where Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. * my post from Week 9, here * Today’s prompt: How has a pet impacted your life? I would say my dog has had a huge impact on my life. His taught me many things in such a short space of time! Some of which include patience, unconditional love, and to stop to enjoy the simple things. Before I got him I wasn’t known for my patience, and I know it’s still a work in progress BUT my dog has definitely been a constant reminder for me to continue to practice being patient. His also taught me what unconditional love really means. He shows me this every day, even if I’m miserable where I feel like everything sucks, he still shows me love and doesn’t judge me for having one of those days. Something else he has taught me from day one, has …

Contemplation, Week 9

Happy Tuesday! And welcome to week 9 of Contemplation, where Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. * My post from last week, here. * Today’s prompt: What’s your favourite topic of conversation. Think by now you’ve probably guessed that I’ll have more than ONE answer. First topic is about people. Any conversation that has some form of human connection to it has the ability to hold my attention for hours and hours! It is such a diverse topic and can take you from discussing relationships, to what makes someone a psychopath. Which is a conversation I had recently, and ended up speaking about for an unhealthy amount of time, it was a really interesting though! I think that growing up I was always curious about people and trying to figure them out, I guess that curiosity never left. So topics to do with us mere mortals, I guess is probably my favourite. A close second would be …

Contemplation, Week 7

Hello! And welcome to Week 7 of Contemplation. Thanks again to Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, for starting the Contemplation series. Each week Desley chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. * My post from last week, here. * This week’s prompt: What quality is most important to you in a friend? When I first read the question I made a mental list of qualities, but the two that stuck were loyalty and trustworthiness. It’s difficult choosing just one, I know I keep breaking the rules tsk tsk  😉 so I’ll briefly share why both are important. Loyalty. Such a fantastic one to have, especially towards the people you love. Hearts are formed and broken because of this. There are people no longer in my life because I came to find out that they had been disloyal and once that trust is gone, it’s difficult to get back. Definitely a prerequisite. Trustworthiness. I know it has a lot of similarities to the above BUT I was also …

Contemplation, Week 4

Hello! And welcome to Week 4 of Contemplation. Thanks again to Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, for starting the Contemplation series. Each week Desley chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. Here are my posts from Week one + two + three. This week’s prompt: Name one thing you should do more often. There’s always something that I wish I could do more often for example, Relax because stress no matter how big or a small a problem is never healthy but has in the last few months become my middle name. I’m working on changing this but as usual I wanted results yesterday. Read because I have fond memories of growing up, spending my time escaping into books and how happy it made me. I miss that feeling! Write because one day (soon) I want to finish writing a book. But that will never happen unless I actually start writing something. Exercise mainly because I am tired of hearing myself complain about the way I look. …

Contemplation, Week 1

The lovely Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientis, started a beautiful series called Contemplation. This is week one but before we go any further, I’ll let the leading lady herself explain what it’s all about, Since July 17th, 2015, I have been using the Kikki.KA Sentence a Day Journal. This is a beautiful mindfulness journal which provides one prompt per day, but has space on that page for three years worth of responses. I love the idea of having this with me for three years and each year discovering my response from the previous year and seeing whether I’ve grown, moved forward, stayed strong in my convictions, taken a step back or changed my ideas. Each week, I’ll choose one of the prompts from that week and share both it and my response with you. I invite you to join me and share your response to the prompt as well, linking back to this post so that I can read your response. Use the tag Contemplation and name your post “Contemplation – Week xx”, …
