Contemplation Week 17

Hello! Welcome to week 17 of Contemplation, where Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. * my post from Week 16, here * Today’s prompt: What does your dream home look like? This question couldn’t have been timed more perfectly, as I’m currently house  hunting so have lots of ideas of what I want my dream house to look like.  Realistically I probably won’t be getting my dream house this time around (financially I’m just not there yet) this won’t stop me from making my next place look as close as possible to my “dream”.  So what does that look like? A mix between an old country home with a Scandinavian twist. I know the two couldn’t be more different but I just can’t decide.  Having always LOVED day beds, floral blankets, vintage cookery and the idea of having a swing set in my front porch making me go “awww” every.damn.time. This theme remains etched in …

Contemplation,Week 16

Hello! I’ve finally caught up to the series so a warm welcome to week 16 of Contemplation, where Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K  A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. * my post from Week 15, here * Today’s prompt: What motivated you today? Truthfully knowing it’s Friday and the weekend has finally arrived was my biggest motivator today, I’m sure I’m not the only one judging by how many people left the office at 5PM.  Another little motivation was knowing I have the entire flat to myself (and my dog) this weekend, my brother is away on a birthday trip giving us reign of his flat. I’m looking forward to hopefully not running too many errands and giving myself time to actually “relax”.  I’m not very good at relaxing, after an hour or two of doing “nothing” I start to panic and wonder if there’s anything I have forgotten to do. So this weekend I will try my best to not do …

Contemplation,Week 15

Hello! Welcome to week 15 of Contemplation, where Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K  A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. * my post from Week 14, here * Today’s prompt: Do you feel younger or older than your actual age? According to mostly bar staff, security guards, night club owners basically anyone who works anywhere that serves alcohol I look younger than my age. Being as short as I am hasn’t helped my case either.  But recently I have started to feel my age! Running for buses is no longer a sport I play with friends, if anyone even suggested playing knock down ginger (popular children’s game .. in the 90s) today I would gladly stand there and get caught.  So in short, I may not look my age but I definitely do not feel younger. A change in diet and being more active could help with that … I hope.  How about you?  Enjoy the rest of your day!  ** I took an …

Contemplation,Week 14

Hello! Welcome to week 14 of Contemplation, where Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K  A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. * my post from Week 13, here * Today’s prompt: What challenge did you overcome today? One of today’s challenges was not letting doubt and anxiety of making it work take over. Myself and Mr Cheerful are currently in a long distance relationship, it’s the first time for us both. And at the moment we’re still in the teething stages of it all, the one where we try to get into a routine and battle out the big struggle that is time difference. He is eight hours ahead of me, when he sleeps I’m at work, and his at work whilst I sleep. Admittedly I am having a harder time with it than I expected. Maybe it’s due to the lack of sleep (my dog isn’t used to city noise yet and barks through the night) or maybe I am understandably sad that Mr …

Contemplation, Week 13

Hello! I took an involuntary hiatus BUT I’m catching up to the weeks I’ve missed starting with week 13 of Contemplation. A series where Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K  A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. * my post from Week 12, here * Today’s prompt: What was the mood of the day? I started a new job, today was my fourth day so the mood varied between anxious, excited, grateful and tiring (from all the training).  Overall though I felt grateful for many things especially having landed this job, as a month ago I didn’t have a job or could see any prospects on the horizon! Which shows what a difference a month, day, week can make.  Things keep changing and so far the majority have been for the better, that’s not to say things are perfect (I miss Mr Cheerful dearly) but right now I’m letting gratitude fill most of my days.  How about you, what mood dominated your day?

Contemplation, Week 12

Hello! Welcome to week 12 of Contemplation, where Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K  A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. * my post from Week 11, here * Today’s prompt: Right now, I feel .. Anxious, because I’m still trying to essentially get my s*** together in order to go back home. Also because I just had a job interview for a specific role, one that I haven’t worked in ..in two years. So all day I’ve been pacing up and down stress eating my way through the contents of our fridge. Although the interview is now over, I am still anxious but now about the outcome. Hopeful that soon things will calm down and work themselves out. That as exhausting as this rollercoaster of a year has been so far, something great is on its way. After writing it out, I feel relieved. How are you feeling today?

Contemplation, Week 11

Hello! Welcome to week 11 of Contemplation, where Desley from musings of a frequent flying scientist, chooses a prompt from her Kikki.K  A Sentence a Day Journal and invites us to share our response. Feels good to have this wonderful series back after a few weeks off. * my post from Week 10, here * Today’s prompt: What’s the next book you’re going to read? Before I get to what’s next, a little about my current read which is Rainbow Rowell’s sweet story Eleanor & Park. Although I’m nowhere near finished yet, so far I’m enjoying it and it’s brought up feelings of nostalgia about my first love story, when I was 14. The way the characters talk about falling in love and describe it in quirky metaphors has struck a chord with me and surprised me. Definitely recommend giving it a read if you fancy a break from ‘’grown up‘’ stories and want to dive back in time for a moment. Back to today’s question, my next book is between: The Life Changing Magic of Tidying …
