Three Things Thursday

Hello! Hi three things readers, the absence of gratitude is not for the lack of good things happening, I just haven’t mastered the art of coping with some of the trials that have presented themselves this past month.   But today has been a good day so here’s my gratitude list, not just for the week but with highlights from this month.  Kindness. Doesn’t cost a damn thing, so why can’t more people spread it around as much as they do hate? I’ll never know. But I wanted to THANK every single stranger that helped me, during my long journey from Japan to London, via Amsterdam.  It was the best way to welcome me back to Europe. Despite being exhausted, emotional and anxious throughout, each person that offered to help with my luggage and ginormous dog (travel) crate on trains, buses and ferry made the journey so much easier.  I wish I could contact you all and let you know just what it meant to me. And hope that the universe rewards you with nothing …

Three Things Thursday

Happy Three Things Thursday  I hope your week’s going well? Mine has been much more eventful than last, thank goodness. So what’s added to this more positive mindset? Taiko Drumming. We went to a show on Saturday and had a GREAT time! It was more fun than I thought it would be, from watching the intensity of the performances to the culture associated with it unfold in front of me.  Also felt good to be a part of something that was happening in our local community. Photos to come soon! SURPRISE. I spent last week trying to get things organised to surprise Mr Cheerful for his birthday. It went without a hitch, everyone showed up and we had an awesome time! An evening full of good food, laughter and singing took place which he seemed pretty pleased and most importantly surprised about … hurrah! Best Friend. My dog has been the sweetest and calmest little thing this week. It’s been wonderful, he even let me give him a bath today without a fuss! Maybe its age …

Three Things Thursday

Happy Three Things Thursday .Hope you’ve had a good week? My three things are short-ish and super sweet this week: Technology! Distance may make the heart grow fonder BUT with the help of the internet, keeping in touch with loved ones has never been easier. Birthday messages from home this week have made my heart flutter. TRAVELING. Technically we are BUT haven’t left Japan in almost two years. Any opportunity we get to visit a different city / town to me feels like traveling. Had a fantastic time in Nagano and I think it reminded us just how much we love exploring, learning and sampling new things. With the travel bug in full force again, we’re currently planning a trip outside of Japan for April. YAY! Wanted to add something with another T, (OCD at its finest ey) but this has also made me smile: Hotel… BEDs. I know, I know it sounds WEIRD, but I’ve missed western beds more than I thought I ever could. Our hotel had them and I would’ve stayed there ALL …

Birthday Love …

Yesterday was my birthday and to be honest, I had been trying to avoid this particular one for the longest time and whoop there it was. I had been avoiding it because it’s one step closer to the age where everyone puts even MORE pressure on you, to have your ‘’sh*t together’’. And right now I don’t feel like I do. At. ALL. This post was going to be about not being happy with where I am in life right now, but looking back, that seems SO trivial and irrelevant in light of recent events. Mr C sadly lost his Grandmother last week. The news is still fresh and understandably it’s not been the best week for him and his family. Despite everything that’s happened, Mr Cheerful still went out of his way to give me the most memorable and lovely birthday. He showed up for me in ways I can never fully repay him for. The outpouring of heartfelt messages, and sharing of photos has been touching to witness. What I’ve learned from his …
